About the Center
Dive into the world of conservation at Nova Southeastern University’s Marine Environmental Education Center (MEEC)! Visit two resident sea turtles, Captain and Cane. Explore interactive exhibits on biology and ecology. Enjoy daily public programs for all ages (involving marine artifacts and even special microscopes). And before departing, visit the coastline to enjoy the view (and sometimes—the wildlife!). If an ocean adventure is desired, “Seek the MEEC” at Hollywood North Beach Park!

Plan Your Day
Founded through a partnership with Nova Southeastern University and Broward County in 2017, the Marine Environmental Education Center (MEEC) has something for all visitors, near and far, to connect with: South Florida history, indoor/outdoor conservation exhibits, animal residents, daily/group programs, and special events/workshops.
Know before you go:
- Free to General Public
- Open 10:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday
- 3:30 p.m. Sea Turtle Feedings Daily
- Municipal Metered Parking Only

Meet Our Resident Sea Turtles
The MEEC features Captain (a green sea turtle) and Cane (a loggerhead sea turtle) which visitors can meet from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. daily in their saltwater habitat. The center also hosts daily feedings at 3:30 p.m. which the general public is welcome to attend. Then, pop-up exhibits in the courtyard discuss the different species of sea turtles, their life cycles, and how they survive in our global waters (and how humans are coming together to keep them safe—like with special lighting).
Inspiration through Education
Across the property, the MEEC celebrates marine life through more than just animal encounters and exhibits—there’s also unique murals, special art installations, lots of different education programs, and special events. So whether visiting the center from a K-12 grade school, a local scout troop, or enjoying an event, each demographic is served via special activities around every corner.
