Education Programs

While the MEEC is open daily for guests to explore self-guided (of course, with interactive conversations by our full-time staff and volunteers), it is our learning programs that truly puts guests in the shoes (fins?) of professionals in our field.

  • Onsite Field Trips: highlight ocean conservation through hands-on learning that promotes environmental stewardship. Each program includes a sea turtle encounter, an educational beach walk, and a tour of the historic Carpenter House and property. Options include K – 2nd, 3rd – 5th, middle and high school programs – all aligned to Next Generation Sunshine State Curriculum. Special groups such as homeschool cohorts and scouts can also be accommodated.

  • Community Outreaches: Community outreaches bring the MEEC’s story alive on your turf. Each STEAM-themed program is facilitated by a trained university educator who brings all needed supplies and materials to your venue/facility. These include schools, libraries, parks, retail venues, resorts, community events, and more. Experiences are scheduled based on calendar availability and host needs.

  • Themed Workshops: Themed workshops are presented at special times throughout the year to provide unique entry points with conservation issues. Experiences have included sunrise yoga, holiday art, and more.

  • Signature Events: Signature events invite our community stakeholders, neighbors, and visiting tourists to enjoy the MEEC with special programming that also includes food trucks, a dj, and interactive public programs.

  • Adult-Only Experiences: Adult-only experiences cater to corporate team builders and social responsibility experiences, as well as evening programs at breweries and 18+ venues.
